Pre-Veterinary Technology
Grade Level: 11, 12
Credits: 4.5 per year (1.5 per trimester)

Dates: Year-Long Program
Pre-Requisite: Biology; STEM-related classes
Program Description: This program will prepare students for a career in animal healthcare and provides a foundation for employment in fields such as, veterinary medicine, agriculture, research, fish and wildlife, as well as, training in grooming services. Students will gain experience through classroom activities and daily handling of resident animals in a realistic setting that models an industry setting. Students will also receive training in grooming services.
Year 2 option available with instructor permission.
High School Credit Equivalencies: 1.5 - Zoology; 3.0 - CTE

College Credits (Subject to Change): Students who successfully complete course competencies and have earned a grade of C or better may be eligible to earn college credits from one of the following institutions:
Bates: up to 4 credits
Clover Park: up to 2.5 credits
Pierce College: up to 7 credits
Certifications: First Aid/CPR
Industry Partner: Spanaway Veterinary Clinic
Program Fees: Scrubs - $40-$45 (2022-23 rates, subject to change)
