Pre-Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine

Credits: 4.5per year (1.5 per trimester)

Pre-Requisite: Biology; STEM-related classes recommended

Program Description: The Pre-Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine class is designed to provide students with a hand-on experience in evaluation, acute care and rehabilitation skills. This program will also teach students about Kinesiology (the study of human movement), human anatomy and physiology, ethics, and taping procedures. This course is a first stop for students interested in becoming a certified athletic trainer, strength and conditioning coach, physical therapy assistant or physical therapist.

Year 2 Options: Medical Careers or Pre-Pharmacy or Year 2 program available with instructor permission.

High School Credit Equivalencies: 1.5 - Anatomy & Physiology; 1.5 - Fitness & Conditioning Activities; 1.5 - CTE

College Credits (Subject to Change): Students who successfully complete course competencies and have earned a grade of C or better may be eligible to earn college credits from one of the following institutions:

Pierce College: up to 20 credits

Bates Technical College: up to 4 credits

Certifications: First Aid/CPR with Bloodborne Pathogens
