Medical Careers

Pre-Requisite: Biology or other lab science class

Program Description: The Medical Careers program is designed to prepare students for initial certification as a Nursing Assistant (NA-C) as well as continued training in nursing. Students spend time in the classroom and in an assisted living facility learning many procedures for patient care including: taking blood pressure, temperatures, pulse and respiration, as well as learning how to bathe, groom, feed, lift, exercise and position patients. Program fees apply.

Program Requirements: Students must be a senior and on track for graduation at the time of enrollment. Students must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Private transportation is required for clinicals in the spring.

High School Credit Equivalencies: 1.5 - Health; 1.5 - Biology-Other; 1.5 - CTE

Course equivalencies may require sending district administrator or counselor approval. Please check with your school counselor for more information.

College Credits (Subject to Change):
Students who successfully meet course competencies and earn a grade of C or better may be eligible to earn the following college credits:

Clover Park Technical College: up to 14 credits

Pierce College: up to 22 credits

Bates: up to 12 credits

Certifications: Nursing Assistant Certification; First Aid/CPR and Bloodborne Pathogens; WA State HIV/AIDS Training
