Electrical Trades

Grade Level: 11, 12

Location: On-site

Dates: Year long program

Credit: 4.5 per year (1.5 per trimester)

Prerequisites: None - High school construction class recommended

Program Description: The Electrical Trades program is designed to train students in residential and commercial electrical codes, wiring and motor controls and electrical theory and blueprint reading. Students also will learn to design and install traditional and alternative energy systems for industrial, commercial and residential buildings.

Electrician are constantly calculating measurements and voltages. Electricians are always using basic math (mostly fractions) to calculate many of these measurements. Students will need to know basic trigonometry when bending conduit in order to find the correct angles and necessary distance between bending points.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra 1 (successful completion of Geometry highly recommended)

Year 2 option available.

High School Credit Equivalency: 1.5 Technical Math/3rd Year Math, 3.0 CTE

Students who successfully meet course competencies and earn a grade of C or better may be eligible for the following college credits:

Clover Park: 8 credits

Certifications: First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, Forklift
